Daniel Biddle a survivor of the 7/7 terrorist bombing who he lost both his legs as a result has designed an app detailing locations of step-free access, ramps and usable toilet facilities at thousands of venues within London.
The app, called Ldn Access, was designed after Mr Biddle found a lot of venues around London remained largely inaccessible to those with disabilities. He found there was also a lack of information when it came to actually locating suitable facilities within the city.
The app pinpoints the user’s current location and produces institutive icons and simple phrases, to help users find the facilities they need. The app has been designed for individuals with a variety of disabilities and dexterity problems.
Currently the app only works with Apple IOS devices but the developers hope to be able to reproduce the app for Android and Blackberry devices soon.
