Microsoft’s recent work on the Hyper-V driver is said to have contributed considerably to the recent Linux kernel development.
A large amount of the work has centred on providing drivers for Microsoft’s own Hyper-V virtualization technology.
This is a partnership many thought wouldn’t be possible due to tensions between the two organisations in previous years.
Linux is a not-for-profit organisation which develops and maintains the open-source Linux kernel, with the help of funding from companies such as HP and Novell.
